The Chess in Schools Program is CHESSAM’s flagship initiative promoting chess from the grassroots.
In 2025, it expanded from 66 to 80 teams, engaging 400 players and 80 teacher patrons, with equal opportunities for girls and boys.
The program also addressed social issues, expanding into seven new schools in the Central and Northern Regions to tackle child labour.
Beyond building Malawi’s chess future, it champions youth development, gender equity, and social impact — Chess in Schools Program.
