• In 2024, in their only second ever qualifiers, the Malawi Women’s U19s emerged champions of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional Qualifiers in Rwanda.
• The team won all its 6 matches against Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique, Botswana, Sierra Leone and Kenya.
• Botswana, Sierra Leone and Kenya are higher ranked nations in Women’s cricket in Africa and have had ample experience playing at this level for much longer than Malawi.
• With this great fit the Malawi Women’s U19s qualified for the Africa Division Qualifiers for the first time in the country’s history.
